Narrative by Vilasini Kumar.
Suresh Singh joined Chillibreeze as a team member for Sketchup services that the company used to then offer. That was way back in the year 2007 before Chillibreeze moved to the current facility in the Software Technology Parks of India. Chillibreeze used to function from a compact office space in Laitumkrah, in the heart of Shillong.
Suresh took the time to talk to Vilasini Kumar about himself and his journey from Manipur to Meghalaya, from the scenic town of Kaching to the equally beautiful city of Shillong and the changes his job in Chillibreeze has brought in himself and his family.
Soft yet Strong
There is something soft and gentle about Suresh, which is true. But, he is a gritty person from within! This is what his manager James has to say:
“As the company began to streamline its services, Suresh was made a permanent member of the PPT Services team in 2011. His ‘can do’ attitude propelled him to the post of Asst. Manager in July 2012, managing a team of 5 people. He was promoted to Manager in July 2015 and he is now part of a 3-manager group that manages and lead a group of 30 people.”
Challenging, but Very Satisfying Journey
Suresh is a Manager in the PPT Services Division at Chillibreeze. Between him and another Asst. Manager, they are responsible for a team of 18 people. This calls for team management skills, ensuring that every member works efficiently to deliver to customers who are in need of fast, accurate and dependable PPT formatting service. Suresh is in touch with customers from renowned corporations in different parts of the world.
When he looks back, Suresh finds it hard to believe how much life has changed for him. Born and brought up in a small town in the Northeast corner of India, where development continues to be lacking, he is now serving the best business consultants in the world!
It has been a challenging journey for him, especially because he is not as fluent in English as he would have wanted to be; he was not familiar with PPT formatting when he joined Chillibreeze and had to learn it on the job; he had to find his moorings in a new city without knowing the local language, Khasi; and, he needed to hold on to the job at any cost, as he needed the money!
But hard work paid off. Being disciplined paid off.
It has been challenging, yet very satisfying. Suresh is very happy with the way life has been since the time he walked into Chillibreeze.
