He was an Edmundian until he graduated.
Andy loves music and singing at the top of his lungs. Before joining Chillibreeze, he was a PC gamer and was very good at it. He also participated in online gaming competitions and traveled across several states.
Andy, now a mentor and a Graphic Designer, joined Chillibreeze as a PowerPoint Designer in 2015.
His first ever job interview was at Chillibreeze. He was excited and ecstatic to get in and start at his first job!
Andy took the time to answer some questions to share how and where Chillibreeze has made a difference in his life.
How has your work in Chillibreeze benefited your family?
First, my family and I are grateful that I got a job in Shillong. I have a great job and can also be close to my family. The steady flow of income has really helped my family.
Looking back I realize that ever since I started working in Chillibreeze, I became a role model for my family members.
How has working in Chillibreeze impacted your personal life?
Whatever values I have learned at work have become an integral part of me. These tend to spill over during my interactions at home. My family members have seen and felt the change, benefitted from it and so they look up to me.
Before working here, I was not fond of reading books, but with the work culture pushing us to learn new things continually, I read more than 15 books in around six months. Each book added something of value to my life. I was able to apply things I learned from the books both at work and at home.
My lifestyle has changed for the better ever since I joined Chillibreeze. And yes, now I make it point to read books whenever I can!
Do you feel you have become more mature after you started working?
Oh, yes! In fact, I can’t express this enough! I have matured a lot ever since I started working and I think work does that to people. I always tell my friends and family that I would not be the person I am today if it was not for Chillibreeze. I have a high sense of responsibility towards my customers, colleagues, the company, and my family.
Has working in Chillibreeze given you more confidence about your future?
Yes indeed, it has. I am now confident about my future, first because of the job security that Chillibreeze brings and the financial support that it gives to my family and me.
Secondly, because of the knowledge that I have gained being here, the books I read and other skills that I pick up at work, I now know what I need to do to start a business and to make it successful. I believe that if I decide to start a business one day, I will do well.
Do you think Chillibreeze is making a difference in NE India?
Yes, as it is providing a lot of employment to the people of North East India.
Additionally, it is also helping change the mindset of the people of NE India that a private company can be set up successfully in Shillong and that it can make a positive difference in the life of the local population.
What are the things you are doing now, you never thought you would be doing?
I never thought that:
I would be driving my own i20!
I would be leading a team and that my actions and leadership can make a difference to another human being.
I would be a POC(Point of Contact) for more than 100 customers.
I would read books!
I would be giving ideas and suggestions to help the company become better.
How do you see Chillibreeze adding value to customers, employees, families, or community?
It is pretty straightforward. All we need to do is give the best quality service to our customers and make them happy. Always. Through our customers, we will be able to add value to our employees, families, and the community.
Can you tell me how your daily work is impacting our customers? Do you think the customers have helped you grow in terms of your skills and how you do your job?
My daily work requires me to think and come up with great but executable ideas. I keep thinking about what I need to do to give the best to a particular customer. I want to do more and learn more so that I can serve our customers better.
Compare your life to someone you know who is unemployed. What are the differences?
Having meaningful work to do does wonders for a person. It helps you become more responsible, purposeful and makes you always want to do more. An unemployed person loses out on all this.
What is your perspective towards work?
I found work because I was lucky and willing to learn. I will be able to grow at work if I continue learning. So, for me, work and learning go hand in hand.
What kind of a job would you have been doing if you had not found Chillibreeze?
Before joining here, I was about to go to Bangalore to study MBA and work at the same time. I guess if I weren’t here, I would probably be working in a private company outside Shillong.
Do you want to give any words of wisdom to the readers?
It is essential to find purpose at what you do, and it is equally important to love what you do as well. If you do not love your job, you’re most probably in the wrong profession. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and we are where we are right now because of the small choices we have made along the way. So, make good choices!
