Narrative by Vilasini Kumar.
Lapynshai Syiem or Hep as she is called, is the head of the team of Office Assistants who help maintain the Chillibreeze facility. The team she leads keeps the office spic and span and the staff plied with warm cups of tea and coffee, to ensure that they can work efficiently to serve Chillibreeze customers!
We invited Hep to a one-to-one chat to tell us about herself and to share with us her experiences in Chillibreeze. She talked with enthusiasm and passion. Read about the major changes she had to contend with in life and how she found Chillibreeze.
Here she talks a little more about Chillibreeze and what it means to her.
What are your responsibilities?
I have responsibilities across three divisions—Accounts/Finance, Web team, and the HR & Admin team!
When I first started in Chillibreeze my responsibility, other than housekeeping, was to help and assist the Accounts/Finance department in very small ways, like going to the banks, writing cheques and so on. Now, I am handling more responsibilities. I am part of the HR & Admin team, Web team and also helping the Accounts team.
Can you tell us a little about your family?
Altogether there are 10 of us in the family. My mother is a housewife and my father is working with the Forest Department and he is the bread winner of the family. I am closest to my mother, Hilbis.
I have one elder sister and 5 younger brothers and sisters. My eldest sister is married and she is working with a Government organization. Some siblings are in college and some in school.
I stay with my husband and I have two children—My son Johnathan and daughter Eudia. My husband is an auto driver. My son goes to Shullai Progressive School in Shillong.
Feeback from Family about you
My family likes to point out that ever since I have started working with Chillibreeze, I am more disciplined and manage my time well! For example when we, as a family, make any plans to go out, not everyone values time the way I do! I know that this change has come in me after I started working for Chillibreeze.
Because I set an example, everyone at home now knows the value of time too. I can say that I represent Chillibreeze in my family and this is how Chillibreeze is a role model for my family members!
What are you best at?
I like HR/Admin work best because I get to serve everyone. I used to dream of being a nurse and the closest I get to that dream is by serving the needs of our office staff!
I enjoy uploading files on our websites. I was trained on this by Clarissa. I also enjoy filling–up the service tax forms. In fact, I love to learn new things!
I guess whatever I do, I enjoy. I love my work. It is almost like my lifeline.
I want to be a Sr. Office Assistant and coach people! I can see that Chillibreeze will grow, our office will become bigger. We will need more Office Assistants, maybe 100 of them? I can coach and train them for Chillibreeze! If given more responsibilities, I will deliver.
Hep is hardworking, dedicated to her work and very reliable. I can see that she displays the values of Chillibreeze in her day-to-day life, both at a professional and a personal level.” Ibansara Shullai – Assistant Manager of HR, Admin & IT.
