Being a Christian state, Christmas is the most auspicious time of the year for the people of Shillong. The time where families get together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. A time where the air filled with love and cheerful excitement brings people close to each other. A time where strangers join together to sing carols with one purpose and that is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Chillibreeze celebrates Christmas every year with spirit filled with laughter and joy. The celebration varies each year.
This year we decided to try a different spin and a stray bit from the traditional holiday. The week before the Christmas celebration, we had the room decoration competition, “Battle of the Rooms – Christmas Decorations.”
Different rooms had to compete against each other. It was a fierce and exciting competition. The staff took part in decorating the rooms with so much enthusiasm for the holiday spirit.
Each room had their unique style.
Chillibreeze 2017, Christmas Celebration was held at Golf Link, Shillong.
Divided into teams, they gathered to enjoy the open fields with fun activities lined up. We also had Zizira, join the celebration. There were five teams from Chillibreeze and a team from Zizira.
The teams were excited and ready for the games to begin.
Fire on the Mountain
Going back to when you were kids, I am sure everyone has played this before. But, playing this game when you are all grown up, is entirely a different feeling.
The activity was so intense, and we had a good laugh when some members were left behind or couldn’t find a group to join in.
Bust Your Move, For its Christmas Time
In this activity, we had the chance to see team members groove to the beat of the music.
We saw some amazing talents especially from some team members whom we would never have guessed could bust a move. Regardless of the location, we were grooving and having the time of our lives.
This activity was such a delight; no one cared who the winner was.
The next one was the wreath relay, for this game we had a hoop as a prop. In this activity, we had to use only our heads to transfer the hoop from one person to the other.
Jingle in the Trunk
In this game, the teams had to tie a tissue – box filled with ping pong balls around their hips.
When the music starts, they had to shake their hips to empty the balls from the box.
The sheer focus and determination seen in the field are the same when we deliver our work to the customers.
Spoon Race to the Finish
Well most of us have played this game once in our childhood.
A player has to walk along a straight line, placing a spoon with a ball between the lips. The player has to make sure not to drop the ball, or they lose.
Back to Back
This activity was the most challenging game on the list.
In this game, players from a team had to sit back to back on the ground; then they must stand up at the same time without using their hands. It starts with two players, once the two are successful in standing up another team member joins the game and the three attempts to stand and it goes on.
It might sound easy, but let me tell you from first-hand experience, it was not so.
The girls had a hard time executing the game, but the persistent nature to not give up made the game fun and enjoyable.
This game was a real test of how well we play together as a team.
There were endless laughter and enjoyment in the air.
For a second there; we forgot we were adults. All our tensions or problems disappeared, and we had the time of our lives.
Just when we thought the celebration has ended, out of nowhere, a Santa appeared in the middle of the field, and everyone was surprised.
Our Santa was no ordinary Santa too; he had the smallest bag I have ever seen, and in that bag, he had gifts for the whole staff.
Chillibreeze Santa distributed the exchange gifts, and we also received a gift from Chillibreeze!
After all the staff received their presents, everyone including Santa had lunch together served by the Admin team.
As everyone was famished from the continuous running and playing, we all sat silently enjoying the food.
While we were enjoying the food served, the HR announced the winners of the day's event.
After waiting patiently for a week, they finally announced the winner of the “Battle of the Rooms – Christmas Decorations.” I remember one of the team members jumped from her seat in utter joy for she was part of the team that won the competition.
The award to the winning team of the Christmas decorations was a gift coupon from the Chicken Wagon.
And the winning team to the day's event received a gift hamper of various items.
