Teddy has taken on more responsibilities. He is heading a new initiative: Healthy Products from Meghalaya, Zizira, and The Chicken Wagon. Teddy also is overlooking the operations and management at Chillibreeze.
[March 30, 2014] Chillibreeze started out as a small organization with a handful of employees in 2004 and has come a very long way from there. Today Chillibreeze is a large, global organization servicing high profile customers and delivering high–quality work. We hire highly motivated persons with a strong drive to succeed. We offer challenging career opportunities allowing growth and advancement in the organization.
We spoke to one of our managers about the successes, challenges, and learnings while working at Chillibreeze and how they see their growth and success interwoven with the success story of Chillibreeze.
Teddy Kharpuri, a General Manager of Chillibreeze, has been with the company since 2008. He talks about the challenges faced when Chillibreeze first started out. “We had problems in basic areas like power supply—power outages were frequent, and some months we had daily power shut down for a few hours. Internet connectivity was also an issue, it was not stable at all, and when the line went down, it took a long time to fix. Service providers were not aware of how crucial the internet was for us. We overcame our problems one step at a time.”
“Attracting good talent was also a big challenge for us. Most people preferred government jobs. When we did get people it was a challenge to train them and get them to work for a professional company like Chillibreeze—this work environment was completely new to them.”
“Along the way, some people tried to stand in the way blocking our success. They were selfish and only worked for their gain and not towards the larger interest of the company. In the end, they either quit or were let go.”
Overcoming the challenges
We have a big generator now so that we don’t have any downtime. Our internet connectivity is from STPI and is now faster and much more stable; we also have our backup line now. We have installed a router with two internet lines and when one goes down the other automatically backs up. Recruiting and getting good people is still a challenge, but we do give a lot of benefits like Provident Fund, Insurance, a good salary and several other incentives to attract and retain people.
